water wall

materials: stainless steel
dimensions: 6′ x 28′ x 8′

Water Wall is a sculptural fence that animates an active streetscape, shelters a small plaza, and satisfies the neighborhood’s desire for a water feature (while avoiding the logistics of dealing with actual water in a northern climate). Like water, this translucent and reflective stainless steel sculpture dramatically changes in different lighting conditions – appearing bright and solid in direct light but illusive and ephemeral when backlit. Interactions between the layers of perforated metal create moire patterns that sparkle and change with the viewer’s shifting perspective.
