Step Up was created for Tapped In, a Spring 2024 exhibition at The Umbrella, Concord, MA.

Tapped In facilitated conversations between artists and scientist to stimulate “fresh perspectives on climate change, CO2 mitigation and action”. In response to scientist Josh Goldman’s mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by changing the diet of cattle, I created Step Up to engage the public in pledging to reduce the
carbon footprints of their own diet.

Step Up is a stepping foot shaped sculpture that gradually became greener as participants attached carbon reduction pledges to the surface. Written on green translucent footprint shapes, the pledges were placed along curving lines to suggest leaves of foliage.
